Andrew Gannon

Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop and Edinburgh College of Art offer an annual funded bursary to a graduating student.

Andrew Gannon was born in Bolton in 1980. He studied BA (Hons) Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan
University (1998–2001) and MFA Contemporary Art Practice at Edinburgh College of Art (2010–2012).

Gannon’s work is primarily performative and includes activities such as balancing on wooden blocks, standing on bollards, painting the faces of gallery invigilators and performing unrehearsed rope escapes. He uses drawings and posters to propose, document and represent live works.
His recent exhibitions include: Twelve Makeshift Plinths, The Fruitmarket Gallery (2012), Castling, Hanson Street Project Space, Eastside Projects & ESP, Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art (2012), and Bollard Work,
Market Street, Edinburgh (2011). His work is also included in The Catlin Guide 2013.
