Jonny Walker: A shard in my eye’
Exhibition Runs 8 November 2024 – 2 February 2025
Viewable Daily from the street 7 am – 9 pm
Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop is excited to present A shard in my eye’, the new public commission by Jonny Walker for the Hawthornvale Space.
The work consists of a series of fused glass lamps pressed against the windows, illuminating both the gallery interior and the street outside. The surfaces of the lamps appear frozen in flux, patterns and symbols embedded within their surfaces through chemical processes involving silver, copper and sulphur. Half-resembling long-forgotten office lights, the work explores themes of stasis, memory, and non-verbal, codified language.
The Hawthornvale Exhibition Programme is conceived as an ongoing programme of temporary public artworks, that reaches a broad audience, providing the members of the public with an unexpected encounter with contemporary art.

This year’s programme has been generously supported by The Idlewild Trust.
