Concrete Casting with Giulia Gentili

Learn to cast a sculptural object in concrete which can be used as a bookend or paperweight. You will make a mould using balloons, milk cartons and other recyclable materials and then experiment with texture and pigment before casting your piece. Pieces will be available for collection a week after the end of the course as they must be demoulded.

Giulia Gentili is a Fine Art graduate from Edinburgh College of Art. She was a resident artist and technician for Franconia Sculpture Park’s Hot Metal Pour 2018 in Minnesota, the largest iron pour in the Midwest. She is preparing for a residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop where she will be exploring how traditional foundry casting and computer aided modelling can come together. She currently works as a fabrication technician at the University of Edinburgh and is a studio holder at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
