Description
Perfect for beginners in contemporary sculpture or art-making, as well as artists looking to explore a new approach. This course begins with an introduction to artists who have transformed everyday materials into sculpture. From Marcel Duchamp and Arte Povera to Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas, we’ll explore how artists—past and present—use assemblage to create meaning.
Through discussion, experimentation, and hands-on making, you’ll be encouraged to develop your own sculptural language. A simple range of materials will be made available as will the materials and tools required for manipulating and building. Participants will also be invited to bring their own materials and objects to build from.
