This intensive weekend course allows you to model a clay head directly from life and develop your observational skills and clay working techniques. Using air drying clay you will learn about anatomy, form and texture, and develop an understanding of portraiture through sculptural expression.

Using air drying clay you will learn about anatomy, form and texture, and develop an understanding of portraiture through sculptural expression. The course tutor will work with you as a group and individually offering support and advice throughout the weekend.

Duncan Robertson graduated from Edinburgh College of Art and was awarded the King Edward VII Scholarship to study in Munich. He was a recent recipient of the Bothy Residency in 2019.
Duncan has over 20 years teaching experience and is a freelance gallery educator at the Scottish National Galleries and a long term tutor for ESW’s learning programme.
