Over two days, learn to model a clay head directly from life while developing observational skills and clay modelling techniques. Using air-drying clay, you’ll explore anatomy, form, texture, and portraiture, enhancing your sculptural expression. 

Suitable for beginners or those with some experience looking to further develop their skills.

This course is perfect for those wanting to develop their artistic abilities through a structured programme, with clear focus and a defined outcome. You’ll work from a live model and receive individual attention from the tutor, ensuring focused progress as you learn to capture form and expression in clay. 

The course includes:

About the Tutor: Duncan Robertson
Duncan Robertson graduated from Edinburgh College of Art and was awarded the King Edward VII Scholarship to study in Munich. He was also a recipient of the Bothy Project Residency in 2019. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Duncan is a freelance gallery educator at the National Galleries of Scotland and a long-term tutor for ESW’s Learning Programme.
