Over the ten weeks of the course, you will work with a variety of clays, learning how to create painterly surfaces and using sculptural clay building techniques such as:
- Construction of forms using hand building techniques such as coiling, slab-building, pinching, press moulding into plaster.
- Clay colour marbling, slip based techniques such as sgraffito and applying glazes.
The course will also include an outdoor raku firing giving you the opportunity to experiment with using raku glazes and the kiln.
School of Sideways Sculpture is ideal for anyone who is interested in learning more about ceramics and wanting to develop their practice with clay.
*Please note that this course will take place outdoors.
