Learn to cast an object in concrete.
What does the course cover?
Over 5 sessions this course you will learn the basics of making a two part mould, using silicon rubber and plaster. Either working with found objects or casting from life you’ll learn the techniques of concrete casting to create your own concrete object. You will learn how to mix and pour rubber silicone and apply a protective plaster jacket, to make a two part mould and finally to mix and pour the concrete for the cast. We will also look into concrete finishes and some varieties of concrete mixes.
Who will this be great for?
Anyone interested in learning more about the casting process and experimenting with concrete. You might have something which you know you want to make a cast of or can choose once you’ve started the course.
What level of experience do I need?
Perfect for beginners or those with some experience who wish to further develop their skills.
Who teaches it?
Paulina is a Swedish artist based in Edinburgh with a background in drawing, video and sculpture, currently working with casting techniques in various materials such as concrete, jesmonite and porcelain.
