School of Sideways Sculpture runs over 10 weeks and is led by a different artist each term who shares their unique approach to making through a series of artist-led workshops. During the first five weeks of the course you will test different creative approaches  and develop a new set of skills and ideas to work from.  For the second half of the course you will have time to develop work in the studio on Friday mornings followed by afternoon discussions.

This term, School of Sideways Sculpture: Cut Up will be led by Alexa Hare and will explore experimental collage making. Each workshop will introduce different ways of approaching collage and cut-up technique, such as visual game playing, chance and ‘magic’ taking inspiration from the modified library books of Joe Orton and Brion Gysin and William S Burroughs collaborative works and tarot reading.  Materials gathered will be further developed through experimenting with Alexa’s approach using techniques such as marbling, printmaking, bookmaking, digital printing on ceramic tiles and performance.

The course is open to everyone,  it is ideal for anyone interested in developing their own work or are curious in learning more about contemporary art.
