GRUB is an exhibition showcasing new work developed by our current cohort of ESW/ECA Graduate Award winners: Esther Castle, Niamh Finnigan, Sophie Hall, and Carys Reynolds.

Since January, the artists have immersed themselves in a period of intensive research and experimentation. Working across a range of materials, techniques, and conceptual approaches, each artist has used the time and space offered by the residency to push the boundaries of their practice and explore new directions in their work.

The resulting exhibition, GRUB, brings together a diverse body of work that reflects the individual journeys of the residents, while also offering glimpses of shared themes, overlapping processes, and collective dialogue.

GRUB invites audiences to experience the outcomes of this exploratory phase and to engage with the fresh perspectives and emerging ideas that have taken shape within the ESW/ECA residency studios over the past few months.

The call for applications to next year’s programme will be launched in May 2025 and is open to all students graduating from a Fine Art course at Edinburgh College of Art in 2025.

The ESW/ECA Graduate Award is supported by The University of Edinburgh, Creative Scotland and The City of Edinburgh Council.
