Molly Mae Whawell: REACH Scotland Resident
Our final REACH Scotland Resident of 2024 is Molly Mae Whawell who will be in residence for 4 weeks across July and August experimenting in the workshops and studios to develop work that focusses on the implications of industrialised flower production.
M M Whawell is an interdisciplinary artist based in Glasgow. Through research, sculpture, installation, performance, writing and film, the work employs affective, somatic and associative modes of meaning-making alongside specific investigations into place or cultural phenomena. Current research is exploring the international production, sale and distribution of cut-flowers, anchored by the site of the World Flower Auction in the Netherlands, and circulating around questions of death and grieving.
