Beginners Stone Carving with Alex Lopez

Taking place in Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop’s outdoor courtyard, this afternoon class will introduce you to hand tools and basic carving techniques. You will develop a clay maquette to work from and then use carving tools to employ reductive methods to sculpt in stone. The course will allow time for individual focussed attention from the tutor who will guide and advise you on technique and your piece as it develops.

Alejandro Lopez graduated from the School of Fine Art, Neuquen, Argentina and has a degree in Art History from Edinburgh University. He has worked with Jorge Michelotti. Alejandro has exhibited widely in Argentina, Portugal, Greece and Scotland and made several public art commissions. He is a long term tutor for ESW’s learning programme.
