Silicone Mould Making with Giulia Gentili

Make your own moulds for casting objects. Bring a small object and learn to produce a two-part silicone mould for a detailed cast. You will experiment with a variety of casting materials including concrete, wax and plaster. The course will allow time to experiment with colour and consider the changing meaning of the cast object when seen in a new material.

Giulia Gentili is a Fine Art graduate from Edinburgh College of Art. She was a resident artist and technician for Franconia Sculpture Park’s Hot Metal Pour 2018 in Minnesota, the largest iron pour in the Midwest. She is preparing for a residency at the Scottish Sculpture Workshop where she will be exploring how traditional foundry casting and computer aided modelling can come together. She currently works as a fabrication technician at the University of Edinburgh and is a studio holder at Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop.
