We are delighted to present Clay Chronicles & Miniature Monuments, an exhibition of ceramics and drawings made by Primary 5 pupils from Trinity Primary School in our studio last term. The after-school viewings are a chance for families and the wider community to see and celebrate the work the pupils made with us.

As part of the project, pupils visited artists’ workshops and studios before creating their own work in the sculpture studio. They explored how sculpture and public art can tell stories, celebrate people and ideas, and respond to the world around them.

Inspired by contemporary public artworks, pupils made miniature monuments, small ceramic sculptures imagined as public artworks for their own sculpture parks. Each monument celebrates something meaningful to them, with sculptures inspired by things like dogs, dancing, hugs, and fun.

Alongside this, pupils invented newspaper headlines, turning playful and sometimes surreal stories into images in clay. Using texture and underglazes, each slab became a small record of their imagined news.

We’re really looking forward to sharing the pupils’ work through this exhibition.

This exhibition forms part of our long-term schools programme with local Trinity and Victoria Primary schools.
