Book for a tour – Doors Open Days
We are taking part in the Edinburgh Doors Open Days celebration this year.
You can visit ESW by booking onto one of the guided tours happening at 11am, 1pm and 3pm on Saturday 25 September. Please book in advance as there is limited capacity.
The tour will be led by a member of the team and will give you insight into the specialist workshop facilities as well as the artist’s projects and commissions happening around the building. Access to the inside areas of the building will only be by bookable guided tour but you can visit the site and see the artists’ commissions between 11am – 4pm.
Located in the community of Newhaven, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (ESW) is a world class centre for production, research and learning which, over the last 30 years, has been pioneering in its commitment to integrating artists in all aspects of its work and policy.
It provides a place in which artists and public users can access the tools, knowledge and mental and physical space which encourage them to experiment, test ideas and take creative risks. ESW supports artists by providing subsidised studios, open access to affordable workspaces and specialist facilities as well as training and professional development. The organisation also commissions new work, supports development through a year-round programme of residencies and employs artists across all areas of activity.
In 2012, ESW opened a new building designed by Sutherland Hussey Harris Architects, an architecturally inspiring space, purpose-built to provide the best working environment for artists and to create a resource for the local community.
The tours will be conducted in small groups within well ventilated areas. ESW has a mask wearing policy in all spaces including outside work areas.
