Stephen Murray joins ESW
as Technician

We’re delighted to welcome Stephen Murray to the team at ESW. He will be working in the Technician (Building) role from March 2019 which will entail providing facilitated access to the workshops and ensuring the safety and smooth running of the building.


Stephen is an experienced technician and artist who has worked in educational, gallery and engagement settings. He joins ESW from Old School Fabrications and prior to that was a Casting Technician at Edinburgh College of Art.

As a freelancer, he has run courses in sculpture processes at Scottish Sculpture Workshop and at Newcastle University; and worked on many complex exhibition projects including as Lead Technician for Graham Fagen’s solo exhibition at the Venice Biennale and the Phoenix Bursary Exhibition at Glasgow School of Art in 2015.

As an artist he has devised several large scale collaborative projects including The Comedown, a 2014 Commonwealth Games commission, and a series of projects over ten years with the collective Ganghut. He completed a BA Hons Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in 2003 and an MFA at Glasgow School of Art in 2013.
