Stone Carving with Alejandro Lopez Thursdays (April – June 2026)

This course is ideal for those with some prior experience in stone carving who wish to continue developing their skills with personalized tuition and guidance. You’ll have the opportunity for one-on-one attention from the tutor, who will assist you with techniques and help you refine your carving. 

Suitable for those who have completed at least a Beginners Stone Carving course. The sessions will take place outdoors in ESW’s Courtyard Bays. 

There are two pricing options: 

  1. A course fee without stone (for those continuing with an existing piece). 
  2. A fee that includes a new piece of stone (approximately 35cm x 25cm x 20cm) if you wish to start a new carving.

Description

This course is designed to provide a creative environment where you can continue working on your stone carvings while receiving expert guidance and inspiration from fellow carvers. 

The course includes: 

  • 9 weekly group sessions at ESW 
  • Expert guidance and feedback from the tutor 
  • Access to stone carving tools 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as dust masks and eye protection will be provided. All participants must wear their own safety shoes or boots, and we can advise on suppliers if needed. 

Tutor: Alejandro Lopez
Alejandro Lopez is a graduate of the School of Fine Art, Neuquen, Argentina, and holds a degree in Art History from Edinburgh University. He has collaborated with Jorge Michelotti and has exhibited internationally in Argentina, Portugal, Greece and Scotland. Alejandro has also completed several public art commissions and is a long-term tutor with ESW’s Learning Programme.
