Launch event with artist Suds McKenna and architects Woodcock & Ellis.

Saturday 13 April 2024, 5 – 7pm

Thanks to all who joined us at Dissenter Space’s temporary home at ESW to unveil Suds McKenna’s commission, followed by an in-conversation discussing ideas of performed labour and staging that informed the design development of the Dissenter with McKenna, Woodcock & Ellis.

Hypnotic Clay with Khadea Santi and Persy Russell.

Saturday 20 April 2024, 6.30 – 8pm

Khadea Santi is one of the artists-in-residence at the Dissenter and for this event they are joined by interdisciplinary artist Persy Russell to explore the attraction of clay within their practices.

The Dissenter for Space Studies is a collaboration between a growing number of artists, designers, programmers, writers and curators. With support from Outerspaces, we created a shared artist-led space at 57 Henderson Row, a formerly vacant office in the heart of Edinburgh. For one fantastic year we hosted a programme of performances, talks, screenings, music, zines, seed sowing, commissions and residencies in what felt like the start of a community. As we search for a new home, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop are kindly giving us temporary shelter at their Research Space so we can continue to play about with art and ideas. As ever, the space is open to all studio holders and if members have ideas for things that they’d like to make happen, we’d love to hear from you.
