Featured Course: Macramé with Lucy Wayman

Date Saturday, 28 March
Time 10am-4pm
Price £80 (£72)

An introduction into the art of macramé. Master the basic knots to make your own macramé plant hanger.
This taster workshop introduces you to a range of knots used in macramé. Using 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines, you’ll create your own plant hanger as a way to explore how rope can be manipulated to take on sculptural form. All materials are provided but, feel free to bring items such as beads, gems, hoops and drift wood, which can be incorporated into your design.

Lucy Wayman graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a degree in Sculpture BA (Hons). Her practice makes use of craft techniques, such as weaving, knotting and macramé but at a scale and with a dynamism that surprises. She was selected for the Royal Scottish Academy New Contemporaries and was awarded the Chalmers Award. She was an exhibiting artist in Edinburgh Art Festival 2018 and was recently commissioned by Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop to create a new public sculpture for the cycle path as part of Edinburgh Art Festival 2019.
