MCFB Clay Club
Clay Club started in September 2021 and is an after-school monthly meet up for young women organised in partnership with our long-term collaborators Multi-Cultural Family Base (MCFB).
This is an existing group that MCFB run and the club was initiated in response to their interest in making ceramics. The group meets every week and initially would come to ESW once a month to chat and work with clay away from the pressures of school in an open studio enviornment. Guest artists occasionally join the sessions, Maarya Sharif ran an indigo dyeing workshop in 2022 and Sequoia Barnes ran a few ceramic sessions with the group 2023.
Several of the young women in the group have been coming to ESW since they were children and it has been an amazing experience for ESW to be watch them grow up over the last few years and to provide a space for them to develop their creativity.
