Public Iron Pour in October

Since our call out earlier in the summer over a dozen artists have been planning their projects with our team and making moulds for the Iron Pour which will take place on Thursday 12 October 2023 in our Courtyard.

You can book to come along to the event to see the moulds being poured and to learn more about the process. It’s essential to book online so we can manage the event properly.

Message to Neighbours:

If you find the event is sold out but would really like to come because you have seen our preparations underway please contact us directly about it on office@edinburghsculpture.org

Message for Attendees:

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday afternoon and evening for the Iron Pour at ESW.

Here’s some information about the event to think about before you come:

– The event will be in ESW’s Couryard so please wear suitable clothing for being outside.

– You can enter the event via the Courtyard Gates near the cafe from the cycle path, steps from Hawthornvale.

– The whole process of heating the furnace and pouring all the moulds in sets is going to take longer than the 3 hour event, so come and go between 4 and 7pm as you like. There will be activity throughout.

– When you are at the event please don’t approach anyone who is involved in the pour, there will be a clear delineation of the working space and observing space.

– There will be other staff members available in the observing space if you have any questions.

– We have a professional documenter taking photographs and will share these online afterwards. This is so that everyone can be in the moment, to limit the amount of flash photography which can be distracting and to help with other H&S considerations.

– Please think about bringing a flask of hot drinks.

– You don’t need to bring a ticket, we will have the attendee list at the entrance.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

all best

ESW Team.
