Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop – Accessing our Facilities

Updated 17 June 2022.

Activity Update

ESW’s Workshops and Workspaces are available for Members to book, on a rolling monthly system which opens in the middle of each month.

ESW continues to monitor and adapt to the pandemic situation, Government guidelines and our organisational arrangements, to create ways to access our facilities.  Please note that the team is working in an altered way and for that reason and because of restrictions on health and safety at work in line with the pandemic we cannot host any drop in visits or group tours of the facilities, individual tours can be pre-booked however.

If you need to speak to us please email or leave an answerphone message.

You can learn about becoming a Member here. Members have access to our monthly Members Opportunities Newsletter, Members Opportunities which we launch as open calls and Member organised events like Open Forum rapid fire talks which happen online.

There is a continuing programme of exhibitions and commissions in the Hawthornvale Space which is our street view gallery, the Beacon Tower and the A Billboard for Newhaven series as well as Lucy Wayman’s Clovehitch sculpture on the cycle path. Please see the posts on our homepage about what’s on.

Pandemic arrangements which we continue to take into account:

  • Government instructions.
  • The ability for ESW to function well under new arrangements and remain strong as an organisation for everyone.
  • Fluctuations in the pandemic situation and challenges that we encounter at ESW.

If you are a Studio or Project Space Holder who can access ESW independently, or a Member who is planning ahead for a pre-booked session, please read our Access Manual and Check List Flowchart before coming to the building.

The Government guidance is as follows:

  • Use ‘Covid sense’ to help protect yourself and others:
    • get your vaccine when offered to ensure you are fully protected
    • stay at home if you’re unwell with symptoms or have a fever
    • open windows when socialising indoors
    • wear a face covering in indoor public places and on public transport
    • wash your hands to protect yourself

Care for yourself and others to help slow down the spread of the virus and reduce pressure on our health services.

Current threat level: medium – find out more about the threat level framework
