Nicole Bachmann and Ruth Beale formed Performance as Publishing in London in 2010. It is an artist-led research project which investigates overlaps in performance practice, events, discourse and writing. Performance as Publishing explores the work of contemporary artists who use text and writing/speaking as a basis for their performance. Past events and exhibitions have taken place at Kunsthalle Basel; MoMA Ps1 for the New York Art Book Fair; Het Veem Theater, Amsterdam; Turner Contemporary, Margate; South London Gallery; Rowing, London; and Modern Art Oxford.

Their collaborative project is Performance as Publishing

Nicole Bachmann works in performance, sculpture, sound and writing. The idea of language as material manifests itself with her latest piece She Said where the making of a carpet is linked to language and the construction of sense. In the accompanying performance the rhythmicality of speaking refers back to the making but also creates its own musicality. It was shown at Objective Considerations MOT INTERNATIONAL project, London and Space in Between in 2014. She graduated from Goldsmiths with an MFA in Fine Art, and was shortlisted for the Swiss Art Awards in 2014. Recent exhibitions include Control / Shift / Plus at Museum Bärengasse, Zurich and Say it in words at Coleman Project  Space, London.
