ESW Winter Event

ESW Winter Event
Saturday 1 December 2018
3–5.30pm

Join us for our Winter Event celebrating a year of activity and take the chance to embrace the dark winter afternoon. Visitors can watch the process of casting moulds with molten iron, make their own cast in aluminium*, take tours of ESW’s workshops and studios*, and hear from artists Alec Finlay and James N Hutchinson, and curator Jenny Brownrigg about their residencies at Sweeney’s Bothy on Eigg and Inshriach Bothy in the Cairngorms. Work by artists running courses at ESW will be displayed, new work by current artists-in-residence Bethan Radcliffe (The Fenton Arts Trust Graduate Resident) and Amelia Tan (ECA Graduate Resident) will be presented and the band Edinburgh Leisure will round-off the afternoon with a live-set.

This is an opportunity for our neighbours, friends and visitors to meet ESW studio holders, members and artists-in-residence, share news of the year and look forward to 2019.

Visitors can also go inside the Artist Bothy currently residing in ESW’s Courtyard and check out artist editions by Laura Aldridge, Trakke, and James Rigler & Virginia Hutchinson which will be on sale through Bothy Stores.

MILK Café will be open and serving a special festive menu including main meals, cakes, hot drinks, beer and wine as well as running gingerbread decorating sessions.

Please  Note – Much of the Winter Event will be out of doors in Edinburgh Sculpture Workshops’ dramatic courtyard, please dress for the weather.
